Part of a small series for my university project
These were only supposed to be like preliminary photos to a bigger series but I liked the way they were coming out so decided whilst editing that they deserved to look a little more finished than I had originally intended
The ideas stem from my facsination with horror (fiction, art, film etc.) and the grotesque but more importantly, I'm curious about other peoples facsination with it. I love the fact that when we see something grusome, scarry or horrific we don't want to look at it but at the same time it often pulls us towards it. The photos are supposed to look fairly ordinary at first until you see that something that adds a shock factor. The warped sides I think add a level of tension and suspense that we recognise from films and tv.
I had a few inspiring artists to which I owe my thanks for their amazing work! They include Aaron Hobson (seriously recommend him, stunning photos!), Jeff Wall and Winkler + Noah (There photos are amazing too!
